The Utilities Department offers many services to County and Town (of Dillwyn) citizens, including repairing leaks in water and sewer lines and repairing any damages made, billing for services and usage to citizens, maintaining safe drinking water and overall operation of wastewater and water plants.

Fees and Usage

Effective July 1, 2019

Minimum 4,000 gallons, minimum water charge $26.12 per month
Rate:  $13.60 per thousand gallons

Minimum 4,000 gallons, minimum sewer charge $42.08 per month
Rate:  $14.01 per thousand gallons


Waste Water Facility

The waste water facility is located on 357 Hancock Street in the Town of Dillwyn.

Water Plant

The water plant is located at 2025 Troublesome Creek Road.

Water Leaks

In the event of a water leak, the county applies the following: If a water leak occurs on the customer's side of the water meter, the County will adjust the water bill as follows. The customer will be expected to pay his/her normal use amount plus fifty percent (50%) of the leak amount. The County will absorb the other fifty percent (50%) of the leak amount. If said customer cannot pay all of the leak amount by the due date a payment plan may be set up for the customer. If a payment plan is established the customer will be expected to pay all of the current monthly bills plus the amount of the outstanding balance agreed upon by the County and the customer. Failure to pay this amount will result in disconnection of service. The County reserves the right to adjust the bill for water leaks in unusual circumstances. To report a leak, dial 434.969.4242. Our Location/Facility

The Buckingham County Administration Building is located on US Route 60 approximately 2/10 (two-tenths) of a mile east of the Buckingham County Courthouse.  The Buckingham County Health Department and the Buckingham Department of Social Services are also located in this building. This building houses the following Constitutional officers and county departments: County Administrator, Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, animal control, building inspection, zoning, utilities, recreation, solid waste, Planning Commission, and industrial development.
