County Administrator

Finance

The Office of Finance and Human Resources is responsible for all procurement of the County Administration, assisting the County Administrator in preparing an annual budget to the Board of Supervisors, assisting the County Administrator in all fiscal matters, accommodating new employees to benefits, payroll and distribution of monies, and other fiscal duties. Building Inspections

The primary purpose of the Building Inspector's Office is to ensure that all structures and buildings established and built in the County of Buckingham follow all policies, guidelines, ordinances, and statutes set by the County of Buckingham, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and any other governing body. Zoning / Planning

The Office of the Zoning and Planning Administrator processes all zoning requests and issues, permits (including special-use), handles all zoning and planning inquiries, and works with the Planning Commission. Read more>

Commonwealth's Attorney

The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney is responsible for the prosecution of all persons charged with the commission of criminal and traffic offenses that occur within Buckingham County.Read More>

 

Treasurer

The Treasurer is an elected official responsible for collection of funds from a variety of revenue sources within the County, while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Read more>

 

Commissioner of Revenue

The Commissioner of the Revenue is a State constitutional officer as stated in the Constitution of Virginia and is the chief assessing officer of the local government. This is an elected position for a four-year term and serves the taxpayers as well as the County. Taxes  taken in generate revenue for Buckingham County, include personal property tax, real estate tax, as well as taxes that fall within the guidelines of the state and local tax codes. This office also serves as a source of assessment data or researching and planning for the state and local community. State Income Tax, including accelerated returns and estimated income tax processing, are a major function of the office. These revenues go to the Commonwealth of Virginia, rather than the County of Buckingham. Read more>

 

Sheriff's Department

The department employs approximately 30 citizens to ensure the safety and security of Buckingham County. Read more>

Our Location/Facility

The Buckingham County Administration Building is located on US Route 60 approximately 2/10 (two-tenths) of a mile east of the Buckingham County Courthouse.  The Buckingham County Health Department and the Buckingham Department of Social Services are also located in this building. This building houses the following Constitutional officers and county departments: County Administrator, Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, animal control, building inspection, zoning, utilities, recreation, solid waste, Planning Commission, and industrial development.
